Weekly Game Night

So as briefly discussed at the previous meet up, a few members and I think it would be a fun idea if we had a weekly game night. According to a recent poll, it seems that most people are free Monday night. The location of these meeting would vary from week to week because of lack of stable locations that would be available. This could also serve as a place to post when and where specifically the meets would happen.

Our first official game night will be tomorrow and the game played will be Arkham Horror. It is a very fun but also very time consuming game, with one game lasting about 3-4 hours. The overview of the game is as follows:

The game board is made up of locations in Lovecraft's fictional city of Arkham during 1926. Street, building and outdoor locations are featured, as well as otherworldly locations that investigators can venture into. Players each have an investigator, represented by a character card, several attributes, and cards representing items, spells, and other things. As game play progresses, gates to these other worlds open and are represented by tokens placed on the board. Monsters from the other worlds enter through the gates and wander the city. The investigators travel through the city, avoiding or fighting the monsters, visiting city locations to acquire tools, and ultimately entering the gates. After traveling through the other world and returning, the investigator can try to close the gate. While exploring city locations or other worlds, the investigators face random challenges and benefits. As gates open, a "Doom Track" advances; if it reaches the end, a powerful horrific creature known as the Ancient One breaks through into Arkham. In the 1987 edition of the game, this ends the game in failure for the players. In the 2005 edition, this (in most cases) begins an endgame in which the players have a small chance to defeat the creature and win; otherwise they lose.

Again, this would be the place to look for if you want to find more information about what games would be played that week as well as when and where specifically everyone will meet up to play these games.

So I took Arkham with me to Chicago to play with some friends at a bday party and I forgot it there. Lets play something else shall we? I'll bring the regular assortment of large player games as well as something in case we only have 5 players. I'll be back up there next Sunday to pick it up but there is no realistic way I'm getting it before tomorrow.

in case people come to game night tonight we shall probably be playing "Exploration" its a game for up to 5 peeps who explore, and fun things happen. IF we get more than 5 people to come to game night I will have other games for up to 7 players. we can do 2 groups of people playing different games if we need to or we can always do a larger version of witch hunt,aka mafia, werewolves. The meeting location shall be in HEAV room 104 at 7pm. Games will go on until 11pm max, i have to sleep sometime you know ^_~. I will be posting a thread in the forum that has the complete list of my games so that each week people can vote what games i should bring! oooooooh democracy in action! If people dont like my game selection feel free to bring your own games! I will better organize a thread for this on the forum later on tonight after game night.

Cultist messed up the summoning circle. As a result I shall not be attending today's game night.

About how many people show up to these events? If there are enough, I could bring Lupus in Tabula. That needs between 8 and 20 players.

Otherwise I could bring some other games.

Usually around 5 or 6 people the last few meets.

That being said, I might have to miss this week as well due to lab debugging progressing at a crawl.

So I have exams from now until some nation offers up enough fowl souls to appease the exam gods. Do you guys want to still do game night but on a different day or on a per week basis? I think that figuring out when people can meet may be more work than what its worth and im willing to put off game night untill after the holiday break.

I'm still up for a game night if enough people are free at one time. I imagine exams/projects these last few weeks might make setting a concrete weekly time kind of hard, but I can be free every night except Wednesday this week.

We've done it a few times, but the time/place isn't really consistent yet.

I know myself and at least one other person (besides Idriaka) that is still willing to have game night.

We've been doing it at HEAV in an empty classroom. We usually don't get kicked out until 11-11:30. Anyway, if nobody has any board games besides Ramon we can always play Magic instead.

We still on for tonight at 7 then, or are we talking a different day? (I don't have any games, but magic works)

We are still on for tonight, but can we are moving it to 7:30 because some one us still need to eat, one of which is the person bringing the source of entertainment.

I won't be free until after ~9:00pm because of a Chem exam, but it should make a nice self-reward.

Dunno, but I'll probably miss it this week whenever it is though. I'll be pretty busy until dead week.
