He averaged the place people ranked every pony, and the best pony would be the one with the best average place.

If I'm reading that right, the sample size = 28 people
I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is not a very good study.
There is absolutely no reason why Rarity and Sweetie Belle would be the top 2 (consider this: Rarity is awful)

Yeah I don't know what the sample size is or if this is representative at all, but Sweetie Belle did tie for first with Celestia on mine so i say:

PERFECTLY ACCURATE.

I would be curious to the results if this survey was done by a larger sample.

As I recall, this year's brony census had a "favorite pony" type deal with all of the characters in a non-ordered ambiguous ranking system. That'll be a lot better, as it rated each character individually as opposed to relative to each other.

Yeah, it will be better overall, but I though the idea of how the survey was being done on Reddit was interesting because it didn't go by who was the most commonly said to be the best pony, but instead who was the highest on every single list. It shows who is overall mot liked among the ponies rather than best pony.

This quiz does some have some short cuts in it because some antagonists I really dislike are higher than ponies I am neutral towards.
