Hello new and/or veteran people! Do you want to help out your favorite club with advertising here on campus? Of course you do!!!
However, before you start doing your part, please read through this beginners guide to the printing and posting of posters so everyone is on the same page. (Poster pun
)
Step 1: CHOOSE OR DESIGN POSTERSKinda hard to distribute posters that you don't have right? Luckily you have several options.
The first would be to get any of the pre-made posters that are already being used. The biggest repository we currently have is located here:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]The second option would be to use your favorite image manipulation tool and create your own poster! If you choose this option, please take the following rules and suggestions into consideration.
Rules:
-
NO PROFANITY (should be 100% kid friendly)
-
DO NOT SPEAK BADLY OF OTHER GROUPS-
NO BLOOD OR VIOLENCE -
NO GUNS OR OTHER WEAPONS IF VIOLATED, POSTERS WILL BE REMOVED AND THE VIOLATOR WILL BE HELD SOLELY RESPONSIBLESuggestions:
-
Use .PNG whenever possible, .JPEG/.JPG is more prone to unwanted compression-
Keep it simple and easily recognizable at a distance-
Bright colors are your friend-
If you add QR codes, be sure to test it to be sure it can be read by a phone-
Ask artists for permission if you want to use their art/vectors-
Triple check spelling and URLs -
Make your poster sized to fit an 8.5"x11" or 11"x17" piece of paper If you are unsure if you meet the rules or need help in any way, feel free to ask for assistance in the matter.
Step 2: PRINTING YOUR POSTERSAll undergrad students at Purdue University are given $20 of money per semester (which does not carry over) to use at any on-campus printer. If the semester is coming to an end, ponies are a great way to get rid of that extra cash

Now onto the important part; how to print your posters.
1. To start, please save the file to your computer **
2. Open the file in your computer's photo viewer
3. Change print settings so your poster fits the paper size of your choosing (be sure it's not being cut off)
4. Select the correct printer, only one will print color
5. Print!**Do not print from a browser, this will add large ugly margins and the image URLs on the top and bottom of the pageIf you need more help on printing, visit this link:

-
DON'T COVER EVERYTHING! this means no covering entire boards with posters so ponies are all that can be seen
-
POST IN APPROPRIATE PLACES! only use the designated poster boards or wood pylons; no posting on building, windows, chairs, or people
-
FOLLOW BOARD RULES! if a board says no staples; use pins, if it says it's for a particular department or for jobs; don't post there
-
BE NICE! if you can't find room on a board, please try not to cover posters. You may reposition other posters if needed but don't completely remove them
-
DON'T ENACT REVENGE! if some club keeps covering your posters, don't start covering theirs; just move theirs off and move on. We're a club about ponies, hate is expected, don't fuel it
Follow these rules and you are golden!
Have fun!!!
Please let me know if I missed anything...
